I would like to place Reviews on pages. The idea is, to create a product-database where, at the beginning, the products are shown (each product one page) but they don`t have ratings yet. Users can now rate each product.
My problem now is: When i initially set “No Rating” for a certain page/product then this product an rating-form is not visible on that page.
How can i change that? I also want the products to be shown when “No rating” is set.

Two things you must do:
1- Make sure that “Use Rating” is enabled within the plugin settings.
2- Make sure that the “Enable Use Snippets” is ticked within the Review Settings” post meta.

Thanks for your answer Hesham. In fact that helped basically. But now i am facing another problem: The criterias are not showing up without “Author Rating”.
Means, if i don`t have an author rating, the “criterias” are not displayed. How can i solve that?
Thanks in advance

It won’t show up till a user submit the first review.

*Bump* – Still waiting for your reply Hesham.

Would you please provide a link to one of your reviews?
The “Show user criteria in comments” option will display the criteria in each use comment, see example here.
1- Cookies pan has a known bug, this feature will no longer exists, it will be removed from the plugin settings in a coming update.
2- I will have to check this and get back to you.

Thanks a lot Hesham. Disabling jQuery seemed to be the solution. I really appreciate your help.

Thanks for your help. This is now showing up, and every user can rate it as i want it to be. It was obviously the jQuery-Setting.
My last question: With WPALLImport i imported now a certain amount of products. All “user definied variables” are set after the import (i compared this with a product, where everything is fine on the frontend). These variables are all set correct, i set them equal to the values of already imported (and working) products.
But now there is a strange behaviour: By default the user-criterias are NOT shown on the frontpage in the commenting-section, after i imported them.
BUT: When i go in admin-panel into this page (“Edit”), just click “Update” (without changing ANYTHING) -> then it`s displayed on frontend.
Do you have an explanation maybe?

In the default criteria settings tab (in the plugin settings page) try to click on update criteria button, this should save the default values in all reviews and make it work.

Unfortunately this is not working. The bulk-update does not affect it.
Any other idea?

I tried to change many settings acutally. I also tried if “bulk-editing” or quick-editing of the certain pages solves this problem. But i did not. To have the custom criterias shown up, i must update the whole page (without changing anything).
Now i wanted to compare the entries in the database to see, if there is a difference between a page which has been updated, and a page which has not been updated so far. But i am no coder and worpress seems to me very confusing (post_meta. wp_post etc. pp).
So would be great if you have a solution Hesham.

btw: When i re-run the import with WP AllImport then the custom-criterias are again not shown anymore. I have to save that specific page again to make it work again.

I am not sure how you did the import, if you have deleted posts then re-imported them, then this could be a normal behavior because there are no criteria data were imported. (maybe I am wrong about this).
The thing here is I never done the import myself before, I added the default criteria settings in a try to help members who wants to import reviews. If I got some free time I will try to create a dump import test site to test this out.

This ain’t working. When a user submits a review, the criterias are still not displayed. It’s really only showing up, when there is an author-review applied to that product. What can i do?
And another question: Can users submit reviews with criterias? I checked the box for the setting “Show user creteria in comments?” – but nothing happens/changes. For what is this option exactly?
The next problem is have: When there is an author-rating, users cannot rate anymore a product with stars.
Also i think i found two bugs:
1. When i set “Cookies” to “yes” (lifetime 90 days) –> When a user rated product A then product B cannot be rated anymore (there is always the message displayed “You alreay rated this product!”). I expected this is tied to a certain product only, not generally for all products then…
2. When i check the box “Disable author ratings on all reviews” the author rating (if there was already one) is still displayed and the author/admin can still rate products in the backend.
Let me just explain how it should work for me, and please tell me if this is possible:
Only users should rate a certain product.
Users should be able to rate each given criteria i set in the admin
Users should be able to give stars as well.
All products will have: all criterias = 0% from the beginning.
Sorry for causing that much work for you. I`m usually a pretty easy customer 😀

I’ve got your email and checked your site. Here is my reply to your questions:
1) You are right, cookies isn’t working as suppose to, I will probably remove this feature from the plugin though!
2) Mmmm… After checking and rethinking again, I see what you mean, there is something wrong on the login of how this work! I will see what to do about this.
What I did was a matter of configuring the plugin:
1- Disabled loading jQuery within the plugin settings, under the Technical tab.
2- Completed criteria rating percentage value within the plugin settings, then I saved settings.
3- Updated default criteria using the Update Criteria button within the plugin settings to get the value saved on all reviews.
4- Enabled “Show user criteria in comments?” under the Display tab.
I added a test user review to see how it goes, and it works, you can see it here
