I am getting this message when I try to activate Authour hreview Pro:
The Author hReview plugin requires the ionCube PHP Loader to be installed on your web hosting, in most cases you will have it already installed but (not activated), just follow these steps:
1- Login to your cPanel.
2- Under the Software/Services category, click on the PHP Config icon.
3- Inside of this, you will find the option to select Ion Cube
4- Select this and hit Save Changes
I contacted my host, IonCube is already running by default. Please help.

You shouldn’t get this message if the ionCube loader is running on the server. Which hosting company you are with?

The hosting company is Westhost. After being unable to find the IonCube setting in CPanel (simply wasn’t present) I contacted them via chat to ask if they could install it. They told me to check Softaculous, which I did but it was also not present. While still on chat the representative confirmed the same. He asked me to hold a few moments then told me “IonCube is running on the server by default”. This didn’t make much sense to me but I figured I would at least post here first before reverting to them. Get the feeling they might have just blown me off because as you’ve stated it does not appear to be running.

Ok, grab this file and extract it on your computer:
That file includes an info.php file, upload it to the root or your site, so you can open it in the browser like this:
(replace YOURSITE with your actual domain name)
Once you type that in your browser, the file will display a message along with your server info, it will let you know if the loader is active and running for real, when you chat with your hosting next time give them the link to that file so it will be clear it’s not working!

I am having the same problem with my AuthorhReview plugin install. it worked great till recently when I started getting the same error as J M.
Host claims ioncube is installed; I have even uploaded the ioncube loaders from their site using the Windows Installer (ftp) and included the path in my php.ini but no luck.
I ran the the info.php file and it reports ioncube not present. I have sent my host the link to the file.
Is it safe to leave info.php online?
I am using the latest version of AuthorhReview.

Host fixed ioncube – info.php reports ioncube is working but the plugin still throws the error and screws up the whole site (plasters the error message on / in place of the homepage.
Please fix i.e.so it just wont activate if it wont work.

If the plugin doesn’t work, then the ioncube loader is maybe loaded but not activated, no matter what your hosting says about it.
Are you with GoDaddy or another company?
P.S. It is ok to leave the info.php on your server, you may remove it when you no longer need it.

I am with http://histyle.biz/ it is a small subsidiary host of a midsize digital services provider – shared hosting / LAMP / CPanel.
It is not my host defensively claiming info.php is working, it is the info.php file you provide itself that confirms ioncube is working. – but the plugin doesnt work.
