Hello, really love the plugin! But I wonder if I could please ask how it might be possible to completely remove the code in the plugin (I’m more than happy editing files) that produces the created-on date that appears at the beginning of the meta description in the SERPs please? I know this is a big ask (i.e. to ask how to modify the plugin on my own) but I’d forever appreciate it if you could give me the line number in the relevant file I need to modify (also understand that I’ll have to re-edit the file every update too)! Please help. Best, Brin.

Hi, you don’t have to edit any files to hide the dates.
In the plugin settings page; scroll down to Rating Box Settings > Display settings > There is two options you can use to hide dates, example:
– Hide date on all reviews?
– Hide modified date on all reviews?
I hope this helps.

I’ve tried those a few weeks ago, but neither stop the dates from the showing up in the SERPs… all they seem to do is hide the dates from the user reading the review. Are you saying they _should_ remove the dates from the SERPs?

Would you please share a link to one of your reviews?

http://winningwp.com/htaccess-made-easy-book-review/ – you can see the date appear at the beginning of the meta description by googling “htaccess book review”. Thanks.

Google is pulling the date from your Yoast plugin and the published date on the site itself (theme)
<meta property=”article:published_time” content=”2014-06-11T01:37:32+00:00″ />
<meta property=”article:modified_time” content=”2014-09-22T07:19:01+00:00″ />
<meta property=”og:updated_time” content=”2014-09-22T07:19:01+00:00″ />
Additionally, you can test what GoogleBot is seeing here without having to wait weeks between testing:

I’m pretty sure Google is taking the date from the markup produced by the authorhreview here: <time datetime=”2014-06-11T01:37:32+00:00″>June 11, 2014</time>.
There are those dates showing in the meta property tags but that seems to be irrelevant to the problem (see above) – plus I’m also using this same plugin on a different site (under a different username – licenses bought separately) that doesn’t display these meta property dates (doesn’t even have Yoast installed) and still shows the date in Google.
What I’m trying to do is find out what/where I need to edit to take this out of the page/plugin: <time datetime=”2014-06-11T01:37:32+00:00″>June 11, 2014</time>.
– in my mind, that would do it. No?

If I have an answer to this I won’t hold it!
I am not sure this will work, and I won’t rally bother removing dates because it’s not recommended.

“If I have an answer to this I won’t hold it!”
– great. Thanks. What’s your idea?
“I am not sure this will work”
– not sure what will work?

What I mean is; I don’t know how to solve your issue, I can’t help you removing the dates.

Oh, I see. No problem. Do you happen to know how I can get in touch with the developer who made the plugin please?

…only after three weeks of trying to use this forum (with this thread), I’m now back to square one… 🙁

Ok, after rethinking about this again, I realized that date shouldn’t be part of the aggregate user reviews, neither the user votes. So, practically the review listing itself should’t be dates.
I’ve done some work and I found a proper way to remove the dates, so it won’t show in search results. I spend a few days testing it.
Please, open a support ticket within your account and I will provide a solution.

That’s fantastic! Thank you very very much. The only problem is when I try to open a support ticket the form asks me for my WP login username and password… for security reasons I’m afraid our site policy doesn’t allow this. Maybe you could post the solution here or email me directly through the contact form on our site: winningwp.com please?
