Using Shortcodes

The Author hReview plugin make use of WordPress shortcodes to display reviews in several different ways. Shortcodes are useful as they save you a lot of time, and help you design your review layout the best.

Below is a list of shortcodes that can be used in the plugin.

Rating Box shortcode

Use: [ratingbox]

This shortcode display the Rating Box anywhere in your review post or page. Note that you can use the shortcode more than once on the same review, this could be a good idea if you are writing long reviews and want to include the Rating Box in the middle of content or after a certain number of paragraphs.

Also, in some cases the default Rating Box templates won’t play nicely with some Theme, or the way you’ve structured your content, you can then choose not to display the main Rating Box, and simply use the shortcode instead.

This shortcode has its own template, we designed it with your content in mind, so basically it has a light layout to not interfere with your content.

Recent Reviews shortcode

Use: [recent_reviews num=5 images=yes summary=yes]

You can use this shortcode to display recent reviews or a list of reviews on a specific page or post.

This shortcode allow two parameters, for example add num=2 to display only the recent two reviews. Add images=yes to tell the plugin to display images, and add summary=yes to display review summary.

Note: To display a list of all reviews:

Use [recent_reviews images=yes summary=yes]

Here we’ve removed the num=5 to be able to display all recent reviews.

Related Reviews shortcode

Use: [related_reviews num=5 images=yes summary=yes]

You can use this shortcode to display related reviews based on tags. This only works on reviews which have tags that exist on other reviews.

This shortcode allow two parameters, for example add num=3 to display only the recent three reviews. Add images=yes to tell the plugin to display images, and add summary=yes to display review summary.
